Ruth says, "Part of me died when Dennis died. I loved that man more than life itself." It was very hard to let him go, but her burden was lightened by the show of support from the community. When she returned from burying Dennis's body in North Carolina, her mailbox was full of checks, money orders, and cash from their friends and the members of their congregation.

This wasn't enough because she needed her family; God gave her a new family in the form of her next husband Hunter Jordan.
