do you think it would be possible to achieve what ruth mcbride has achieved in todays society

I would hope that things would be at least a little better for Ruth today. Race relations have improved a little bit. Mixed marriages are more accepted but there is still a long way to go. Single women with kids also might have more options than in Ruth's time.
