Ruth rejects the differences in race and ethnicity. She is very guarded about her children's questions about race and insists that everyone's blood is "the colour of water". Ruth had been so indoctrinated into roles of race and culture that she rejects the differences. Ruth also becomes a Christian letting any Jewish part of her left die.
