a guy gave me a casual small bouquet of yellow chrysanthamums so was he slighting me by giving me yellow chrysanthamums?

I was in brief relationship with the giver of the flowers and he never made any mention of the relationship being anything serious, however he was upset that I was going to go to another relationship, so him not being serious I do not understand the yellow chrysanthamums unless he did not know their true meaning.
