Why does Petra’s description of what her friends tell her excite David?

David thinks there might be more telepaths. Petra suddenly reports that there is another person communicating with her via thought-shapes. None of the others are receiving the communication. They ask Petra to copy what she is hearing so they can try to understand who this other person is, and communicate who they are. The woman communicates to Petra that she is in a place called Zealand.
