In the world of Wyndham's novel The Chrysalids, the "chrysalids" themselves are the children all over the world who have telepathic abilities. Much like their insect counterparts they come out of their metaphorical "shells" as they discover their beauty through their telepathic skills. They are the opposite of blasphemous, they are beautiful.
