Joseph and Gordon are brothers. Someone (it is inferred to be Joseph) turned Gordon in as a deviant. Fortunately, he was well loved and spirited away. These two brothers have no relationship, and Gordon in well aware that Joseph's position should be his own. There's no love lost here.....
