David has a dream at the end of the Chapter where he remembers Sophie as a Deviant and dreams that she becomes helpless like a sheep led to the slaughter and it is his father that kills Sophie with a knife. David is somewhat relieved to realize at the end that what he saw was but a dream. The dream, however, gives David context into the narrow minded, violent, and ruthless side to his father and his father's religion.
