What happend to Levi after his birthday party?

Levi got sick and had to be rushed to the hospital shortly after his bar mitzvah. I don't recall Levi having a birthday party. Danny is very concerned about his brother when he gets sick because he is worried that his brother will not be able to assume the role of the next tzaddick in his place. At this point Danny is preparing to tell his father that he wants to pursue psychology and does not plan to become a rabbi.
