How does Azdak become a judge in Act Four?

Azdak is chosen by the soldiers to replace the judge who has been executed. When the Fat Prince allows the soldiers to make the decision, he expects them to choose his nephew. Thus, a mock trial is held to choose between the two, and Azdak wins hands down.
