The Catcher in the Rye

The Catcher in the Rye

How has Holden’s brother D.B. lost his respect? Why does Holden object to his brother’s current writing? What does Holden mean when he says D.B. is in Hollywood “being a prostitute?” He lost his respect because he has given up on himself. He objects his current writing

Though we aren't quite aware of exactly why, D.B. lost Holden's respect when he moved away to Hollywood to become a screenwriter. This reflects Holden's dislike of "phonies", as he considers movies false.
