The Catcher in the Rye

Holden talks about his “terrific capacity” for holding liquor. From what you have seen of him so far, do you think he has a drinking problem?

I would say that Holden has no business drinking in his mental state. First of all,  he's too young. Second, he has too many psychological problems to begin with...... alcohol feeds his reaction to those problems. So, whether or not he thinks he has a large capacity for alcohol, and whether or not the alcohol has an affect on him...... the fact that he shouldn't be drinking anything and does it anyway is a problem. His drinking is a problem.
