How does Holden see the reality of Pencey Prep

Holden thinks that the school lives up to its boast of high academmic standards, but that "splendid, clear thinking young men," is a falsity. He believes that whatever clear thinkers made it into the school, soon lost their ability to do so. Not exactly the way it's supposed to be.
