The Brass Verdict Irony

The Brass Verdict Irony

Jerry Vincent

Jerry Vincent is bound by a strict code of ethics and is widely regarded as a morally unflappable attorney. However, he acts directly opposite to that code of ethics by planting a juror on the Walter Elliot jury.

The Judge

Similarly, the senior Judge that works with Mickey Haller is bound by an incredibly strict code of ethics. However, she is complicit with a jury tampering scheme and a criminal scheme, breaking that code of ethics.

Patrick

When Patrick steals a diamond necklace at his friend's house, he thinks that the necklace was real (as did his friend when they bought it). However, it is later revealed that the necklace did not have real diamonds.

The Toothbrush

"When they opened him up they found a toothbrush shiv lodged in the anal cavity. It was never determined whether he'd put it up there for safe keeping himself" is an example of verbal irony. The speaker's intent is to be sarcastic; however, his literal words suggest that he is being serious.

Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch

Readers know that Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch are half-brothers. However, neither Haller nor Bosch know that they are half-brothers.
