I like Bruno's interactions with Pavel the best. They are full of empathy and a kind of respect that is seldom seen in the narrative.

While I'm reading this book, I'm learing that Bruno is opening himself up to Maria and Pavel. Not Lieutenant Kolter very much because Bruno doesn't see a heart in him. But for Maria and Pavel, Bruno see's a heart in them. He tries to help them open up and that's what makes this story what it is because he helps people understand what their feelings are for him to understand their feelings as well. This story holds a lot of purposes, but this one is a big one. That is what I enjoy most.
