Kurt Kotler and Gretel

I would be reluctant to read too much into Kotler's flirting with mother. We can speculate on his personality. He wants to endear himself to Bruno's family, specifically Bruno's father. He might be attracted to her or even manipulating her. In any case< I don't think it is a major plot or character point in the book.
