Liesel attended every march through Molching because she was looking for Max. Liesel hates watching this inhuman parade but she wants to find Max. She also wants to feed the Jews but knows she will get punished if she does.

Liesel's internal conflict is both wanting and not wanting to see Max in the parade of Jews. If she sees him, then she knows where he is and that he is alive, for the time being. If she doesn't see him then that means he could still be free, not yet caught by the Nazi's. She likes the thought of him being free, walking alone down a desserted road, but she hates not knowing for sure.
