What does the second book that Liesel steals signify?

THe second book Liesel steals is "The Shoulder Shrug".We aren't sure what exactly was in the book but it had a Jewish protagonist. Even though Liesel is not Jewish she identifies with him. The book inspires Liesel in her love of words and even "inspires Hans Hubermann to come up with a plan to help the Jewish fist fighter."
