Why author killed Rudy Steiner and minor character like his father survived war? It's bad idea. That character (Rudy) had potential to be Liesel husband ect. He can leave Molching becuase he had chance to do it.

I think the idea is not whether the characters have good fortunr rather than war and Death does not discriminate between morally "good" and "bad" characters.
