The Book Thief

Part 3 Hans visits the Nazi Party office in Molching. At the conclusion of his visit, Death provides some commentary

  1. Hans visits the Nazi Party office in Molching. At the conclusion of his visit, Death provides some commentary: “There must have been a good share of mixed feelings at that moment, for Hans Hubermann’s idea had not only sprung from Liesel, but from his son....On the other hand, he was also enjoying the ecstasy of an idea…”(128). Using this passage, as well as the first sentence on page 129, infer what this “idea” and “something of great magnitude” could be. Use textual evidence to give support to your inference.

The book is meant for Max. Max reads the book that he received from hans Mein Kampf, or My Struggle. Taped to the inside cover is a key. It worked well to protect Max from being discovered.
