Himmel Street is a fictional place, but it serves as the backdrop for the atrocities committed by the Germans in WWII. A fictional setting is appropriate as this novel is written as historical fiction. The main setting is the perfect place for Kusak to tell a story that could be true, and it is complemented by the real places mentioned throughout the novel.
