I did see beauty in this story. I saw the kindness of Hans and his struggle to remain human in a society that demanded the conformity of hatred. I saw Liesel's kind relationship between Liesel and Max. They take each other's pain and loneliness away. They even have a snowball fight in the Hubermann's basement. I also saw the independent and kind spirit of Rudy who refused to let prejudice and hate lure him away from his beliefs. Even Death found a melancholy beauty in through the colors that he witnessed in the sky.
