1) Liesel and Rudy handing out bread to the Jews on the street.

2) Liesel's determination to read..... catching up in school rather than giving up.

3) Hans and Rosa giving Max shelter.

4) Erik going into battle, so Hans could stay behind. As a result, he gave up his life.

5) Rudy jumping into the freezing river to retrieve Liesel's book.
