How is "The Black Cat" an allegory about writing? What does the anxiety of the narrator indicate about his writing?

By making the man the writer of his own story, Poe creates a doppelganger or double of himself. The writer creates characters which copy his own darker fears and motivations. The writer's alcoholism combined with his inability to create on demand become a macabre parody of the author himself.
