The Big Sleep (1946 Film)

The movie The Big Sleep

In the movie The Big Sleep with Bogart, there is a scene where he`s walking down the street and he passes a store that has on it`s awning the name Hermann Myre. Why is this name on the awning and whose idea was it to put it there? My wife`s father was Hermann Myre and he served in the army during WW2. That name is not common. Did someone working on the movie know Hermann Myre and decided to put his name in the movie?

Anything you can tell me about this would be appreciated.

Thank you
