What does the last paragraph of Chapter Two reveal to the reader about Lou Ann's character?

From the text:

Finally, late in the night, she cried until her eye sockets felt empty. At the beach she had gotten sea-water in her eyes and they felt like this. Angel had warned her to keep them shut, but she had wanted to see where she was going. You never knew what kind of thing could be down there under the water.

I believe from the above paragraph we can infer that Lou Ann is just a bit lost and lonely....... she is unsure of herself.
