Malcolm X uses figurative language extensively in his description of Harlem. He described himself as being "mesmerized and narcotized", which illustrates his excitement, as well as his feeling of being drugged.... the feeling of being misled. He also refers to Harlem as a "technicolor bazaar" a busy, colorful, bustling marketplace.
