Franklin was a self-made man. He grew up poor, educated himself, pondered, dreamed, invented and experimented. These were and are the freedoms we have in America. Today, we have people like Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs, neither raised with a silver spoon, and each enormously successful. There are numerous success stories that were conceived with little more than an idea, poor American who worked their way through college or to scholarships. Franklin represents the American Dream.
