Jim's willingness to help Tom is a comedy routine.... Jim does everything Tom asks, even when he is appalled by the suggestions. In this, we see Jim's complete innocence and lack of individual thought. He blindly follows along and does exactly what he is told..... something he's done in all his years of enslavement.
