Why do neither Bryon nor his mom asks Mark where the money is coming for

Bryon gets a job at a supermarket and starts to bring in some money. Mark also brings in money, which Bryon assumes is from gambling. Byron and mother don't want to ask so they don't have to admit the money comes from a bad pastime.
