What problem does the main character face in the story? How is it resolved?

The main charcter is Bryon, what was the main problem did he faced? And how is it resolved? what's the resolution?

The main problem Byron faces is his changing relationship with Mark. The boys have been close... raised together, since Mark's parents had been killed in an accident. The boys come into conflict as a result of maturing.... growing up. Byron matures.... Mark doesn't. In the end, their conflict isn't resolved.
