Chapter 22 - Electromagnetic Induction - Check Your Understanding - Page 630: 12

Answer

Use the right hand rule

Work Step by Step

The direction can be given by the right hand thumb rule, which states that the direction of the thumb indicates the direction of current and fingers direct the motion of magnetic field. Inside the circular loop, the fingers will be drecting outwards. Hence, the magnet should be moving outwards towards you with an increasing magnetic field. Also, the magnetic field can also move downward, away from you, to give the similar result, but with negative magnetic field or decreasing value of magnetic field.
