Hi Grandma. Boiling is a cooling process, because high energy molecules are leaving the system. As energy is added to boiling water, the boiling cools off the water as fast as it is warmed, and the boiling water stays at the same temperature. Next time I come over, I'll show you how this is discussed on page 326 of my physics textbook.
