Chapter 7 - Conceptual Questions - Page 260: 11

Answer

A person's center of mass is not necessarily at a point that is half of the person's height. The center of mass depends on how the mass is distributed around the body.

Work Step by Step

A person's center of mass is not necessarily at a point that is half of the person's height. The center of mass depends on how the mass is distributed around the body. If there is more mass distributed in the lower part of the body, the center of mass will be located at a height that is less than half the person's height. If there is more mass distributed in the upper part of the body, the center of mass will be located at a height that is more than half the person's height.
