Chapter 14 - Conceptual Questions - Page 531: 6

Answer

By planting vineyards near bodies of water, the temperature of the vineyard will be more regulated and there will be less temperature fluctuation in different seasons. This regulated temperature makes it easier for grape growers to produce high quality grapes.

Work Step by Step

In cold climates, there is a large temperature difference in the summer and the winter. However, because water changes temperature much less than air, the change in temperature of the water in rivers and lakes will be less than the change in air temperature. By planting vineyards near bodies of water, the temperature of the vineyard will be more regulated and there will be less temperature fluctuation in different seasons. This regulated temperature makes it easier for grape growers to produce high quality grapes.
