First method:
Try to find a symmetry plane.
- As we can see in the image, if we put a imaginary vertical line on the center of the compound, both left and right sides will be exactly the same.
Second method:
Draw the enantiomer, and compare it with the original one.
- If we put an imaginary mirror on the side of the compound, we will see exactly the same compound, with the same groups in the same positions.
** If we put the mirror on the back, we will get the same compound too, but it will be flipped, so you just need to imagine it rotating 180 degrees (horizontally), and you will get the first molecule.
