Chapter 1 - Introduction to Chemistry - 1.3 Thinking Like a Scientist - 1.3 Lesson Check - Page 19: 15

Answer

1. Making Observations 2. Testing and proving Hypothesis 3. Developing Theories

Work Step by Step

The first step in the Scientific Method is to make an observation. An observation is when you use your senses to obtain information and will usually lead to a question. This will form your hypothesis. The second step is to test your hypothesis, You test your hypothesis by experimenting with different objects based around your hypothesis and having an independent and a dependent variable. Sometimes, the hypothesis will be impossible or extremely hard which is okay. Once you test your hypothesis and experiments multiple times and modified if needed then it may become a theory. Thus, leading up to third step which is developing theories. This means that once the hypothesis meets the test of repeated experimentation that it could be raised to higher levels of newer ideas.
