Chapter 27 - Self-Quiz - Page 466: 7

Answer

c. a vein

Work Step by Step

In leaves, the vascular bundle is called leaf veins. The xylem strands in the vein carry water and the minerals dissolved in it to photosynthetic cells; meanwhile, the phloem strands carry sugars away from the photosynthetic cells to other parts of the plant where they are needed or stored. Sclerenchyma layers provide support to the vein to keep them stiff.
