Chapter 2 - Section 2.4 - Assess Your Understanding - Applying the Concepts - Page 116: 6

Answer

There are much more drivers with 25 years or older than with 24 years or younger. Observation: 24 years old or younger means from 16 -24 years old.

Work Step by Step

According to the graph, there are about $\frac{14}{5}=2.8$ times more accidents caused by 25 years or older drivers than accidents caused by 24 years or younger drivers. If both groups had about the same number of people, the article could be considered correct. But, the size of the second group is much more than 3 times larger than the size of the first group. Taking this into account, younger drivers are not safer than older drivers, but more dangerous.
