To locate any point with coordinates (a,b), starting from the origin, we move a units to the left (a negative) or right (a positive), then move b units up (b positive) or down (b negative). If a =0, we do not move left/right, If b=0, we do not move up/down. If the point is on the x-axis, then b=0. Any point on the x-axis has y-coordinate equal to zero.
