We see from Exercise 34 and Exercise 35 that working in fractions and decimals yields equivalent answers. However, for this particular problem it was easier to work with fractions because the original numbers are given in fractions. On the other hand, if one uses a calculator, often working with decimals is easier (faster to type in).
