Chapter 3 - Solving Inequalities - 3-2 Solving Inequalities Using Addition or Subtraction - Practice and Problem-Solving Exercises - Page 176: 67

Answer

The differences are: 1. Items in group a are equations; items in group b are inequalities. 2. You can switch items on both sides of the equal sign; you can't switch items on both sides of the inequality sign unless change the inequality sign.

Work Step by Step

They are different. The first inequality represents: r is equal or greater than 114 (which can also be written as r > 114); the second inequality represents: r is equal or less than 114. Or you can graph both inequalities or plug in the number to check if they are the same. * When you plug in numbers, be sure to choose numbers other than 114. They end up not equaling each other.
