Any culture that is stereotyped suffers a sense of distorted identity. They are seen as caricatures rather than real people. Native Americans are viewed as a group represented by a film industry that have fictionalized their culture and identity. Consequently individuals have trouble being anything else than what they are perceived to be by whites who consume these films.
