Does the rhyming of the play distract from the plot?

Although perhaps it would in our contemporary horizons of expectation for drama, it is likely that in Moliere's time there was no such unfamiliarity. For this reason, I would not say that the rhyming somehow "distracts" the reader/audience from the actual plot.
