what is the difference between paul new friend and his 0old friends he made at lake Windsor in the book tangerine part 2

I think Paul is likable enough. He also plays goalie on the soccer team for Tangerine Middle School which he does pretty well at. Paul is able to attract more positive influences at his new school: people that care about him like Theresa Cruz and Louis Cruz.
