The emotion evoked by Lady Lazarus is one of sadness, and for me, one of hopelessness. Depending upon your interpretation, Lady Lazarus seems to be someone who suffers from depression, who had attempted to take her own life mulitple times. Her actions seem to come during the attainment of landmarks.... such as age. Each time she attempts to take her life it is a different decade, but like the Biblical Lazarus, she is always miraculously ressurected.
