Who was Batterton Dobyns?

Batterton is my last name. Our family has been in Decatur Co., IN, since before the Civil War and before that associated with Bloomington, IN and before that, Kentucky. There used to be a Dobyns family in Decatur Co. Neither name seems common, so I was astonished to find both of them denoting one person about half through the SRA recently. I remember reading and liking a few samples of the work about 70 years ago in school, but had nver read the whole book. I would be grateful if you could enlighten me.
