Jim Nightstand is a dark and brooding sort of character. I would use a carousel full of dark imagery. Dark Horses, gargoyles... This reflects his obsession with getting older. Recall when he rides the carousel for one-and-a-half rotations, aging a corresponding one-and-a-half years.

For Mr. Dark I might choose an ominous tattoo on a muscular arm. Consider a grim reaper because he seems to stay young, though odd looking, through the years the carnival has been going. There is something unearthly about him.

Do the symbols have to come from the book or can they be something else that the character might represent?

it can be anything that might reprsent them

Aslan, you are a lifesaver greater than all lifesavers

Wow, I like the sound of that!

Well good. because it's true
