What is the conversation between the stepfather and the woman actually about? How is this example of dramatic irony?

In the conversation, the stepfather is bargaining the sale of Lakshmi. Lakshmi believes she is going to "work" in the city, she does not know that she is being sold into prostitution. Lakshmi cannot understand why they are talking about her "hips" rather than her ability to physically labor.
