Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

what is a main recognition scene in Sir Gawin and the Green Knight?

When the green knight first offers his challenge to fight the king...why was he recognized? Or what was his own personal recognition?

Or any other main recognition scenes in this book?

I think he was recognized because Sir Gawain could't let king Arthur go through with it.
